Rocky’s Asian Bistro & BBQ is one of a kind mom and pop restaurant, serving classic Chinese, South East Asian, and Japanese cuisine paired with an Asian fusion spin on traditional American barbeque. Located in Blaine, Minnesota, the owners have established a strong reputation with locals and have been recognized as a vital part of the community by introducing traditional flavors and dishes to their customers.
I created a new branding and identity system inspired by the vibrant, flavorful ingredients and restaurant interior. Bold primary fonts set a distinct tone for the brand and are complemented by a vivid and celebratory color palette.

With the brand identity proposal, I wanted to create an Asian identity without clichés. After listening to the client’s story, I’ve taken inspiration from multiple aspects of their lives and translated it into the logo. From the mountainous regions of Laos, pairing it with the patriotic colors of the United States, the brand identity forms a metaphorical, memorable, and playful feel.
