About Me

Chufue Yang is a first-generation Hmong American film, theatre, and commercial actor based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Yang has recently made his Twin Cities professional mainstage theatrical debut in Theater Mu’s “The Kung Fu Zombies Saga: Shaman Warrior and Cannibals,” directed by Lily Tung Crystal and written by Saymoukda Duangphouxay Vongsay. The short film “Rice Street,” funded through the Cultural Stars Grant by the city of St.Paul, Minnesota, in which Yang played a lead role, was nominated as an official selection to the MLC Awards 2021 in two categories: “Best Mid-West Production” and “Best Supporting Actor.” “Rice Street” was written and directed by Dan Yaj of W&C Films. In addition, he co-starred in the web series “Damaged Good,” a SAG-AFTRA New Media project nominated for “Best Digital Series” at the Webby Awards 2020, “Best Indie Series” at the Streamy Awards 2020, “Best Digital Series” at the Queerties Awards 2020 and was showcased at the MCA - Chicago. “Damaged Goods” was written by Vicent Martell, Zak Payne, and K.B. Woodson and was directed by Vincent Martell of Vam Studio. Yang also co-starred in the short film “Listen to me” directed by Toucha Her of Windstruck Productions and won “Best Overall Film” at the Frozen Film Festival 2018 (San Francisco), “Best in Show” at the Arts Institute of Chicago Media and Design 2017, and “Best Film Narrative” at the Qhia Dab Neeg Film Festival 2017 (St. Paul). “Listen to me” currently has 3.2 million views on YouTube.

As a model, he has appeared in a number of regional, national, and international editorials, commercial print, and social campaigns.
